I tried the nanofil last year, hated it took it off and respooled with invizx. I cant really explain why I didnt like it, I just didnt. I dont like to throw braid on a spinning reel, and this stuff sounded like braid. I know its not a braid, but it acted like it. It was loud when reeled in through the guides. It was very slick and tying a knot was a pain in the azz. I tried the knot that was in the box, and it still slipped really easy, and broke a couple of times. On the positive side it was very castable, and didnt twist at all. It was also very sensitive, but I wont use it again.

I’m going to try punching.  There are a lot of weeedy lakes around here.  I’m looking at buying some heavy cover hooks and some craw fatties.  I did get a Skeet Reese Flip/Pitch 8’ rod.  I’m hoping that will help me crane them out.

That’s the first complaint I’ve read/heard about Nanofil being too noisy, although I’ve seen the slippage & breakage problems from multiple people. I have some 10lb Spiderwire Ultimate on one of my spinning rigs & I thought it was rather quiet for a braid, but it’s a Cannibal Corpse concert compared to Nanofil. Of course if you’re used to using fluoro/mono & don’t like/use braid on spinning set-ups, it can be quite jarring hearing the zing of braid going through the guides. I know it was very noticeable when I started using braid again after a long time not using it, so I can imagine using Nanofil which does put out some noise going through the guides would be noticeable, although that’s not an issue for me & it’s a big improvement over braid from my perspective in regards to noise. We’ll see how it goes when I get it out on the water this spring.

I wouldnt discourage anyone from trying it, it just wasnt for me. Funny thing is that when Im throwing a frog or somthing on a baitcaster and braid the noise doesnt bother me at all. Just the spinning reel. I am sorta weird that way though. If you need a line that will cast a country mile use the nanofil. That stuff will outcast anything. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the info guys…I love 10lb braid on my spinning reels and the noise spider wire dosen’t bother me…I suck at learning new knots though.  But I almost always use a floro leader so it should be an issue

Just going to go to out and have fun this year.  No goals, just catch fish and have fun.  Try and fish with Twitch again and make it out of state once or twice but other than that, just kick back and have fun with it this year.

Im also going to stock up on jigs, cranks, and tubes in the next few weeks.  Keeping it simple.
