Hey guys I got the kvd tour reel and I was wondering what line is good for overall use and what pound test? Another question is if I bought braided line, would it be less easier to backlash if I got 40 pound test or higher?

If this is your only reel that you will be fishing with, then I would use 50lb braid.  Braid is just as prone to backlash as mono/fluoro.

Do I fill the spool all the way up when I use braid?

Id use 30-40 yards of mono backing and tie the braid to that with a blood or double uni knot.

Do the mono backing like twitch said & fill up the spool to just below the red ring on the spool.

i find higher test braid backlashes a little less than lower test braid. Always use mono backing for any braid applications on any reel, if for anything else a precaution. it’s like taking care of problems before they happen. Enjoy the reel!

Ive never done this before but I will try it. I have a couple questions though. First is why should I use the mono thing for a backup, I’m not asking why use mono I’m asking why I should do this. Next is if I do this, when I start to reel in my lure, should I still be able to see braid on my spool? how far up do I go with the mono and braid on the tour?and last how heavy lb test should the mono be?

If you try to tie braid directly to your spool, it will not grip and the line will spin freely. Using the backing will stop this, it will also save you some money considering your only using 50-75 yards of braid instead of 100-120. That way you can get a couple reels worth out of the same box.
A lot of people use the backing. Once they have reached the amount of mono they want to use, they will take electrical tape and wrap it around the spool. Make sure you tie your two lines together first. But this will stop you from getting deep backlashes since they will stop at the tape.

anything 12 lb test or over up to about 20-25 lb test. less than 12 lb test usually use it on spinning gear for more finesse type fishing. personally i don’t use fluoro but a lot of guys here like Seaguar Inviz, for mono i like PLine CX premium or Silver Thread Excalibur. i like copolymer lines. Trilene Big Game i like also in 10-15 lb test, heavier it gets a little stiff.
