I fished Blue Pond this morning. I have been there several times and have only caught a few largemouth bass out of there. I see them all over and some pretty big ones too. I have thrown everything but the kitchen sink with no luck. I did see one chasing my buzz bait this morning. What is interesting about this pond is that it is super deep. Right off the shore it drops to at least 6 feet. I know because I fell in once goofin’ off trying to catch some crappie from a log. So my question is how do you fish a deep crystal clear lake or pond with little vegetation?

when you see one swimmin around, toss out a weightless 5 inch senko a few feet infront of it and be patient. you have a better shot with a buzzbait going on cloudy days or early in the morning/later in the evening when they roam around more, and I like a smaller popper if im fishing really clear stuff.  sometimes, if they are acting right, burning a spinnerbait can do the trick but I prefer to do that if the water is just a little bit choppy.

Does color of the worm matter or is it experimentation? I have heard dark colors on dark days light colors on light days. Dark colors in clear water light colors in stained water.

I would probably just throw a green pumpkin or watermelon colored senko no matter what the conditions for a given day on that clear of water. In really clear water I don’t think it matters how much sun light there is. The water is clear enough to that a natural color will almost always work better.

It’s hard to say without seeing it.  Like Jake states using natural colors are the way to go.  You may also try top water poppers or jerk baits will sometimes bring the fish up from the deep water like your buzz bait did, but only if you have some ripple from the wind to break up a piece of plastic.

Havent seen a lake/pond/river yet where a green pumpkin 5” senko won’t catch a fish.

Blue Pond 2 Josh 0

I threw out the 5 inch worm with no luck. That is for bass, I did catch a crappie on the worm. The only strikes I got were on a gold buzz bait. Blue Pond wins another battle.
