I am looking to by a good all around topwater rod. The most I can pay is about $110. I am thinking about the Skeet Reese Topwater Rod. What do you guys think?

I don’t have any experience with any of skeets rods but I use a quantum smoke rod in 6’6” medium fast and it works great. And I realize you said that $110 was what you were wanting to spend but the smoke rod can be found sometimes on eBay for around $120 shipped or either if you have a sportsmans wharehouse hey sometimes have a sale on them.

I looked at 4 rods before finally settling on the TOUR Swindle 7’ML
It has multi-uses, its very light-weight, and has a lifetime warrenty.

This rod shows up on eBay and on BBC from time to time in your price range.

He also has the 6’6M, which is specifically for pop-r’s.

I like a 6’6” M Fast rod for most topwaters.  I like it for walk the dog lures as well as poppers. For buzzbaits I use the same rod that I throw spinnerbaits with.  Check out the Mojo Bass rod my father inlaw loves his,  I use an older Quantum Tour Edition rod, also check on the Abu line Veritas, Verdict or Vandetta rods.

I have the 6’ 6” M Veritas rod matched with the STX 6.4:1 reel and I really like it.  I went with the 6.4 reel because I use this rod for other stuff that I use in the upper water column and the 7.1 was too fast.

I decided to go with the Skeet Reese Jerkbait/Topwater rod.
