So I’ve been tearing them up on wacky worms and tubes the last few weeks and am looking to add another spinning rig to the mix.  I’m really happy with my St. Croix Mojo casting rods so I’m going to get either the wacky or tube/grub rod.  I’ve narrowed it down to either the Quantum KVD sig spinnng reel through BPS (about $89) or the Abu Garcia Orra S (about $69).

I’ve been really happy with the BPS KVD baitcasters that I have so I’m leaning that way, but thoughts?

I have not found a quantum spinning reel I like yet. They are all way too heavy and break too easily. That is why I love okuma, they are so light and hold up very well. I had my first one break this year, after 5 years of hard abuse and fishing nearly every day. Check out the okuma hardstone. It is a bit on the heavy side for an okuma (9oz) but it is still a very nice reel.

As for the rods, I dont think you will like the mojo spinning rods, they are heavy and not very sensitive. What action are you looking at? You may want to check into the st. croix eyecon series. Yes it is a walleye rod, but it is 10X more sensitive than any rod I have used in the same price range. Plus the color isnt bad, its green instead of purple. The 6’8 Snap jig Medium XF rod would be awesome for tubes and grubs. Match it with braided line and you will feel a fish fart next to your lure.

amen, Im slowly turning to okuma more and more. I bought a 7’M SST (stealhead/salmon rod) the other day because I really liked the feel. I used it yesterday and didnt even want to put it down. matched it with a phluegar president and had myself an awesome tube rod.
