Hi KVD—I live near the Bayou Black - Gibson - Houma Louisiana area where if I remember correctly you fished for one of the classics it may have been the 2001 classic. Any thoughts on fishing this area. You may have noticed that most areas are 2 to 6 foot in depth so what was your bait of choice in this area?

I remember when he won his first Classic down there he was flippin/pitchin a Strike King Wild Thing(discontinued) but similar to a Game Hawg or a Zoom Brush Hog.  But I would think flipping/pitching soft plastic baits or jigs around cover,  spinnerbaits and square bill crankbaits along weed edges and downed trees.
