Not very often, but occasionally I like fresh walleye for dinner.  After all I have God’s refrigerator right outside my back door except the surface temp is to warm to keep my beer cold.  So I went out after dinner this afternoon and caught several nice walleye.  Caught a couple 4lb’rs, threw them back and found 2 nice eaters 21” and 18”.  I also caught some junk fish, 2 SM, 3 LM, 1 Pike and one enormous Rock fish all on the jigging spoon.

Nice walleye,  can’t beat fresh walleye for dinner.  I was out there yesterday, did okay caught 17 LM only 4 keepers 3 were just over 14 in. but did manage a nice 4 lber. all but 8 came on frogs in the river between Big Portage and Baseline a few others came from the shoreline from Mud Bay toward the channel you live on.  The other 8 came on wacky worms, all 4 keepers were frog fish.  The DNR officer came over to check my license and said that alot of people were complaining that the fish were small he said even the bluegill fishermen were complaining.  Did you stay in Portage to catch the walleye?

Nice job on the fish.  Lot’s of little fish, but plenty of decent ones too.  What color wacky worm?  GP/red fleck?  As for the walleye, I caught the 2 for dinner on Portage, went to Base and only caught big fish, 3 and 4 lbs.  Not eaters.  Let them go.  Went to Little Portage, caught 3 more 1 was about 4lbs.  Let them all go.
