You are about to hear someone say they are the best reels he has ever used and that he is switching all his reels over to them slowly…. Just wait, he’ll be here in a little bit. He’s probably out catching dinks right now.

I’ve read a lot of reviews from reformed Abu/Shimano/Daiwa guys who’ve switched to Lew’s, but I’m not one of them. I have 2 Tournament Pros & they’re very solid reels, but they’re not unquestionably better than other reels at their price point from my perspective. Didn’t like them as much as my Gen 2 Premiers & I’m sure the Gen 3 STXes will be more up my alley, but there’s no denying they’re very good reels.

I really like my Lews Tourny Pro. It is easily my favorite reel. I have many different reels too. I have some Shimanos, Quantums, Daiwa Zillion, and Abu Garcias and I like the Lews more than any of the others.  I still buy other reels that aren’t Lews reels but I always consider them and wouldn’t hesitate to buy a few more…. If I were you, I would spend the extra $20 for the Lews Speed Spool. I have heard lots of great reviews about the Speed Spool and some not so great reviews about the Laser MG Speed Spool.
