The 2013 KVD Charity Classic held Monday at Kensington Metropark’s Kent Lake allowed anglers the chance to fish and compete with the Detroit Lions and seven-time BASS Angler of the Year, Kevin VanDam.
Proceeds from the event benefited the community and charitable outreach programs of the Detroit Lions Living for the City philanthropic initiative and youth initiatives and conservation efforts supported by the Kevin VanDam Foundation.
Winning this year’s classic was the WYCD 99.5 team that consisted ofDon Watts, Lions’ alumnus Stuart Schweigert, Steve Grunwald andMike Palmer.
Second place went to the Plano team that included special teams coachJohn Bonamego, Aaron Feeback, Greg Yourst and Roy McBurney. Third place went to the team of Kurt Keller, Todd Keller and Paul Caldwell.
The Big Bass Award went to Don Watts for his five-pound, 14-ounce catch.
The event included Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, Willie Young, Herman Moore, Jason Hanson, Stephen Tulloch and many of the Detroit Lions players.
